1️⃣ National Museum of Anthropology
If you love learning about history and culture, this museum is a must. It’s one of the most important museums in all of Mexico and Latin America. Inside, you’ll find treasures from ancient civilizations like the Aztecs and Mayans. The famous Aztec Sun Stone (like a giant ancient calendar!) is here too. Take your time wandering through the exhibits—you’ll leave feeling like you understand Mexico so much better.

2️⃣ Hot Air Balloon Ride over Teotihuacan
This is honestly one of the most magical experiences I’ve ever had. Imagine floating high above ancient pyramids as the sun rises, it feels like you’re in another world. Most balloon flights take off super early in the morning, but don’t worry, many tours include hotel pick-up, your balloon ride, entry tickets to the pyramids, and even a fun tequila tasting afterwards. 3️⃣ Teotihuacan Pyramids
Even if you don’t do the balloon ride, you have to visit the pyramids themselves. Teotihuacan is an ancient city just outside Mexico City, famous for the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. Walking along the Avenue of the Dead and climbing these massive structures (if you’re up for it) is such a surreal feeling. You can literally walk where people did over 2,000 years ago.

4️⃣ Chinatown
Yes, Mexico City has its own Chinatown—and it’s small but full of character! It’s located right in the historic center, just a few streets away from the main downtown attractions. Here, you’ll find red lanterns, little shops selling Asian snacks and souvenirs, and plenty of places to grab dumplings, bubble tea, or Chinese pastries. It’s a fun spot to stroll through and take a break from tacos for an afternoon

5️⃣ Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts)
This building is stunning inside and out. It’s an icon of the city, with its beautiful white marble exterior and colorful stained glass dome. Inside, you’ll find incredible murals by famous Mexican artists and, if you’re lucky, you might catch a concert or ballet performance. Even if you just stop by to admire the architecture and take photos, it’s 100% worth it.

6️⃣ Basilica de Guadalupe
This is one of the most important religious sites in Mexico—and in all of Latin America. Millions of people visit every year to see the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, which is deeply meaningful for many Mexicans. The complex includes the old basilica, the new modern church, and peaceful gardens with beautiful views of the city. Whether you’re religious or not, the atmosphere here is very special, and you can feel the history and devotion in every corner.
